Psoriasis is one of the most complex and persistent skin conditions I encounter in my practice and one that affects far more than the skin alone. It is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the immune system accelerates the cycle of skin cell production, causing cells to build up on the surface far faster than the body can shed them. The result is the raised, inflamed, scaly plaques that characterise the condition. But psoriasis is not simply a skin problem. The immune dysregulation that drives it is systemic, and the condition is associated with increased levels of systemic inflammation, gut microbiome disruption, liver burden, and nutritional deficiencies that extend well beyond what is visible on the skin.
I want to be clear before anything else: psoriasis is a medical condition that requires diagnosis and often ongoing management by a GP or dermatologist. The prescribed treatments available for psoriasis have improved enormously in recent years, and this programme is not a substitute for that care. What I offer here is a structured nutritional support programme that works alongside medical management, addressing the internal systems that both drive and are driven by the condition. Many of my clients with psoriasis find that improving gut health, reducing systemic inflammation, and supporting the liver and immune system makes a meaningful difference to the frequency and severity of their flares, even when the condition itself remains chronic.
This four-stage programme runs across approximately three months. Please discuss it with your GP or dermatologist before beginning, and share the full supplement list with anyone who is prescribing your psoriasis treatment.
Stage One: Cleansing and Detoxification (Twenty-One Days)
Psoriasis has a well-established connection to toxic load and liver burden. When the liver and gut are overloaded, the skin is called upon as an additional excretory organ, which can trigger or worsen inflammatory skin conditions including psoriasis. This stage begins by reducing that load before the deeper restoration work of later stages can proceed effectively.
AquaOx is a powerful antioxidant complex combining concentrated extracts of pomegranate, acai berries, cocoa beans, and rosemary leaves. Each of these four ingredients is among the most well-researched botanicals for antioxidant activity. Pomegranate extract contains ellagic acid and proanthocyanidins that protect cells from oxidative damage and may help to reduce atherosclerotic processes in blood vessels. Acai berry is exceptionally rich in a broad spectrum of antioxidants and is sometimes referred to as one of the most nutrient-dense berries available. Cocoa bean extract contains heart-protective flavanoids that support circulation and reduce oxidative stress. Rosemary extract provides carnosic acid, with strong antioxidant, stabilising, and anti-inflammatory properties. In psoriasis, where systemic oxidative stress is elevated and the immune system is in a state of chronic overactivation, this combination provides meaningful cellular protection throughout the cleansing stage. One capsule in the morning and one in the mid-afternoon, both taken with food.
Daily Delicious Hi-Fiber Acai and Blueberry supports intestinal cleansing through its combination of apple fibre, inulin, and L-glutamine. Soluble fibre binds toxins and waste products in the intestine and supports their elimination, reducing the internal load that contributes to skin inflammation. Inulin feeds the beneficial bacteria whose role in immune regulation and intestinal barrier integrity is particularly relevant in psoriasis. L-glutamine directly supports the repair and maintenance of the gut lining, reducing the intestinal permeability that allows inflammatory molecules to enter the circulation and reach the skin. One measuring scoop of nine grams dissolved in 150 ml of water, once daily before a main meal.
FanDetox provides liver support through its botanical formula developed by Korean researcher Song Hae Bok, combining persimmon, goji berry, citrus peel, buckwheat, and soy sprouts. The liver is one of the primary organs involved in filtering the blood, processing inflammatory metabolites, and eliminating the toxins that, when they accumulate, place additional pressure on the skin as an excretory organ. Supporting liver function in the early stage of this programme helps to open the body’s primary detoxification pathways before the deeper immune and microbiome work begins. Take as directed on the packaging, consistently throughout stage one.
Stage Two: Microbiome and Gut Restoration (Twenty-One Days)
The gut-skin axis is one of the most significant emerging areas in dermatological research, and psoriasis is one of the conditions most consistently linked to gut microbiome disruption. When the balance of bacteria in the gut is disturbed, immune regulation becomes impaired, the intestinal barrier loses integrity, and systemic inflammation increases. This stage focuses on restoring that balance.
B-Kurunga provides Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus alongside zinc in a tablet form that is easy to take consistently. These probiotic strains help to restore the balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut, support immune regulation through the gut-associated lymphatic tissue, and may help to reduce the systemic inflammatory signalling that drives psoriatic flares. One tablet daily, before food.
Assimilator provides plant-based digestive enzymes including papain, bromelain, lipase, and protease, alongside vitamins A and D. Efficient digestion reduces the fermentation of undigested food in the gut, which is one of the contributors to dysbiosis and intestinal permeability. Vitamins A and D both support the health and integrity of mucosal membranes, and vitamin D in particular plays a key role in immune regulation relevant to autoimmune conditions including psoriasis. One capsule with each main meal throughout this stage.
Stage Three: Reducing Inflammation and Supporting Immunity (Thirty Days)
With the gut cleansed and the microbiome beginning to restore, this stage turns attention to the systemic inflammation and immune dysregulation that are the central drivers of psoriasis.
H-500 is one of the most potent antioxidants in the Coral Club range, working at a mitochondrial level to neutralise free radicals and support healthy cellular energy production. In psoriasis, the chronic immune activation generates significant oxidative stress that damages skin cells and perpetuates the inflammatory cycle. H-500 helps to interrupt this cycle by reducing the oxidative burden throughout the body. One capsule once or twice daily as directed.
Pau D’Arco with Selenium provides bark extract from the Tabebuia tree alongside selenium, a mineral that is a key component of the body’s own antioxidant enzyme systems. Pau D’Arco has well-documented antifungal, antibacterial, and immune-modulating properties. It works against opportunistic organisms that can accumulate in a dysbiotic gut and trigger or worsen immune reactions, including psoriatic flares. Selenium provides antioxidant protection and directly supports the immune regulation that is so important in autoimmune skin conditions. One capsule two to three times daily, thirty minutes before food.
Coral-Mine alkalises the internal environment through mineralised water providing calcium, magnesium, and potassium. An overly acidic internal environment promotes inflammatory processes and impairs skin cell function. Drinking 1.5 litres of Coral-Mine water throughout the day helps to maintain the alkaline balance that reduces the inflammatory tone of the body and supports healthy skin cell turnover. One sachet in 1.5 litres of water, sipped throughout the day between meals. Continue Coral-Mine throughout stage four and as an ongoing daily habit.
Stage Four: Skin Nourishment and Maintenance (Thirty Days and Beyond)
The final stage focuses on providing the skin itself with the structural and anti-inflammatory nutrients it needs to maintain barrier function, reduce the speed of cell turnover, and improve the texture and comfort of the skin surface.
Omega-3 TG provides EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids in triglyceride form for maximum absorption. Omega-3s are direct precursors to anti-inflammatory prostaglandins and compete with the pro-inflammatory arachidonic acid pathway that drives chronic skin inflammation in psoriasis. Regular omega-3 supplementation is associated with meaningful reductions in psoriatic plaque severity and skin dryness in research, and it is one of the best-evidenced nutritional interventions for inflammatory skin conditions. One capsule two to three times daily with food. I recommend continuing omega-3 supplementation long-term as part of an ongoing maintenance routine.
Promarine Collagen Peptides provides marine collagen in peptide form for good bioavailability, supplying the amino acids the skin needs to maintain and repair the structural proteins of the dermis. The accelerated skin cell turnover characteristic of psoriasis depletes collagen faster than it can be replaced under normal conditions. Providing a highly bioavailable collagen source helps to support the skin’s structural integrity and may contribute to improved skin quality and reduced fragility over time. Mix one serving with water or juice once daily. As an alternative, B-Luron (the liquid hyaluronic acid and chondroitin complex, 30 ml daily) may be used to focus specifically on skin hydration and dermal moisture retention.
Lifestyle and Dietary Recommendations
Diet matters significantly in psoriasis, and certain dietary choices consistently trigger or worsen flares. Alcohol is one of the most well-established triggers and should be eliminated or greatly reduced during this programme and beyond. A diet high in refined sugar and processed carbohydrates drives the systemic inflammation that feeds psoriasis. Many people with psoriasis find that reducing or eliminating gluten makes a meaningful difference, particularly if there is any suggestion of sensitivity. Red meat and dairy are common inflammatory triggers for some individuals. Increase your intake of anti-inflammatory foods: oily fish, olive oil, colourful vegetables, berries, and turmeric.
Moisturise the skin regularly with gentle, fragrance-free, natural products. Managing stress is genuinely important: stress is one of the most consistent psoriasis triggers, and its effects on the immune system and gut-skin axis are well documented. Sleep, rest, and stress management are not optional additions to this programme.
If you would like to discuss whether this programme is appropriate for your situation or how to integrate it with any treatment you are currently receiving, please reach out through the contact page. Psoriasis is a condition I take seriously and approach with care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to complete all four stages?
The four stages are designed to work progressively, each preparing the ground for the next. Stage one is particularly important in psoriasis because the gut-liver-skin connection means that cleansing those systems first makes the immune and skin support of later stages significantly more effective. If you can only start with one or two things, I would begin Coral-Mine immediately as an ongoing daily foundation and start the Hi-Fiber alongside it to begin the gut work. I am always happy to help you work out a realistic sequence.

How long before I notice any improvement in my skin?
Psoriasis responds slowly to nutritional interventions, and I want to be honest about that. Most people notice some improvement in overall skin comfort, dryness, and itching within the first four to six weeks, particularly once the omega-3s and anti-inflammatory support of stage three are in place. More meaningful changes to plaque severity and frequency of flares generally take three to four months of consistent support. Psoriasis is a chronic condition, and nutritional support is a long-term investment rather than a quick fix.
Can I take this programme alongside prescribed psoriasis treatment?
Please speak with your GP or dermatologist before starting this programme if you are on any prescribed psoriasis treatment, including topical steroids, biologics, methotrexate, or phototherapy. Some supplements can interact with immunosuppressant medications, and your prescribing doctor needs to know what you are taking. This programme is designed to complement medical care, not to replace it, and your specialist team should be kept fully informed.
My psoriasis is linked to psoriatic arthritis. Does this programme address that?
Psoriatic arthritis has both the inflammatory skin component and an inflammatory joint component, and several supplements in this programme address both. Omega-3 TG, Pau D’Arco with Selenium, and H-500 all target systemic inflammation that drives both the skin and joint aspects of the condition. For additional joint-specific support, you might also consider elements from the Arthritis Support or Arthrosis programmes on this site. Please discuss any joint-specific supplementation with your rheumatologist, as psoriatic arthritis management requires specialist oversight.
